On our way home....

We decided to make a run up to Anacortes.  The weather is good for the weekend, the tides, currents and everything looks good.  Sure, we've never been through the Ballard locks before, but we stopped by before hand and watched how it was done.

We got back to C Otter and we were ready to shove off. On the way out, we asked the Freemont Bridge to be opened as we thought we were 25 feet and we thought the bridge was 30 feet, but heck, why take a chance with a new boat??? With our signal to the bridge attendant, the bells and whistles went off., the cars stopped and the bridge opened, just for us!

The lock attendants were great and here we go...from Lake Union out to Pugent Sound..... so ,now,  tucked into Kingston marina for the night, we head north tomorrow.  Knowing today was a great day. Another first under our belts. WE  LOVE BOATING!!!

Wow! We did what????

C Otter - 2005 Selene 43
OK, it was supposed to be just a hobby after we met Leonard & Lorena on "Got DeFever" in Puerto Vallarta.  They truly inspired us and when we got home we specifically said that we would just look at boats to get familiar with what we would want in our next boat.  We knew that we wanted something that we could take into Mexico some day as Leonard and Lorena are having such a wonderful time..... We wanted a full walk around deck for the safety of deck hands and pups. Why the list went on and on. We figured it would take us a year plus to finally figure out what we would want and then more time to finally find the perfect boat. But guess what????

To make a long story short, we found C Otter set up just the way we would have set up a new boat. She is fully capable of taking us to far away places. She has stabilizers, a fantastic electronics system, water maker, etc. So we've spent the last week going to Lake Union to stock her and get her ready to bring home to Anacortes. We've had a great time trying each and every restaurant that lines Chandler's Cove.

Moving day.....

What a view from the bridge!

Obviously, one happy camper :)
We should be heading out soon on our first voyage on C Otter and our first trip through the Ballard locks to Puget Sound.  Funny, I remember going to the tours of the locks with my parents and grandparents on summer vacations way back when. I was always fascinated when we would watch the boats and the fish go through. I never dreamt that I would own such a beautiful boat with such a wonderful husband and we would be taking her through those very same locks.
