Anchors away!

How many people can you fit on 3 sailboats rafted together motoring down the middle of the channel?!?!

8/13/14 Pull the anchor…. Dejavu…. We have another anchor attached to ours!  Do people really just leave without their anchors?  This is the second time in two cruises that this has happened.  Again, it was not a problem, but it’s a weird sight to see….surprise!

We traveled up to Teakerane Arm and saw the beautiful waterfall. What a gorgeous spot!  No overnight anchoring evidently, but it sure looked tempting to stay awhile.  The sun was beginning to peek through the clouds and there were hikers up on the ledge above the waterfalls, just soaking up the sun and the amazing sounds of the water rushing over the edge.

We continued on and got to Von Donop Inlet almost exactly at low tide…. Did I mention that there is a rock right in the middle of the channel as we enter?  What great timing…low tide!  But, we had two good lookouts on the bow of the boat and Capt Chris at the helm and we motored right on by.  We ended up in a beautiful maze of inlets and streams and trails!  One sign said we could even hike 5k and we’d be back in Squirrel Cove!  We decided that was a bit too ambitious, so we decided to take the hike that we to another spot in Von Donop Inlet.  Wait, what’s the sign say? Wolves!  Yikes! We began practicing our noises to scare off most any critter that could appear and we had an uneventful and beautiful walk through the woods. There were some very old trees in there…. Chris singing “hey there little Red Riding Hood….”

My Captain :-)

Back to the boat and a wonderful steak and baked potato dinner.  Tammy and I had a round of lemon drop martinis (which is why we needed the fresh lemons from Squirrel Cove).  All this on the water, after being self sufficient for nearly a week…. Making our own power and water.  Oh yeah, we brought stuff from the grocery store,  but we kept it cold or frozen.

As the evening wore on then there were jellyfish….. photos cannot do this “situation” justice.  They were EVERYWHERE and as far as we could see…. Not sure if jellyfish are a good thing or bad, but they were truly elegant and graceful and it was a special sight.

Jellyfish are everywhere
